Some “valuable” tips for attending the Sub Pop Records Silver Jubilee…

1) Bring cash. We all love technology but sometimes in crowds the very smartest devices can freeze in an onslaught of Instagrams.

2) Bring water! We will have some there, but why not come prepared?

3) Do NOT park on or near train tracks. They are active and you will get run over if you do it, so don’t do it.

4) If you’d like to sit, bring a pad or chair. There is very little grass in Georgetown.

5) Sunscreen. Don’t be silly, bring sunscreen.

6) The beer gardens and food trucks will begin serving at noon and prior to that there are many restaurants in the neighborhood serving brunch. Come hungry.

7) Buy a tote bag from the KEXP, NW Harvest and NW Parkinson’s tents. These are limited-edition, event-specific and useful. And the money raised goes to great causes. Buy their other stuff as well.

8) Buy Sub Pop stuff.  This too supports a very good cause.

9) If you are drinking, don’t drive. Consider using Uber or take Metro. An Uber coupon is available here: Also check for parking suggestions. We do, however, highly recommend carpooling, biking or transit.

10) Come to the actual, albeit temporary Sub Pop Mega Mart at 6003 12th Ave. S. to see an art installation of little-seen materials from throughout the label’s history. Also #8 above!

11) Find all of the “face holes.”

12) Don’t forget to get your picture taken with King Neptune, Jonathan Poneman!

On Friday, July 12th (the night before our free, utterly vainglorious Silver Jubilee festival in Georgetown on July 13th), Sub Pop Records presents Silver Jubil-eve: A 25th Anniversary Comedy Thing (for Charity!) at the Moore Theatre.

The evening will be hosted by Eugene Mirman and features performances from Marc Maron, Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, & Kurt Braunohler. Tickets for the event are $25 and will be on sale June 7th at 10 a.m. You can purchase tickets via phone at 1-877-784-4849, online at STG and or available with NO service charge at the Paramount box office open M-F, 10am-6pm, plus show nights.  Tickets available with a $1.50 service charge at 24 hr electronic kiosks located outside the Paramount, Moore, and Neptune- and with a reduced service charge at Sonic Boom Records. All proceeds from this event will benefit local organizations 90.3FM KEXP, Northwest Harvest and the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation.

The incredibly patient, indulgent and also very funny Mr. Mirman recorded a video announcement for the show from his desk, somewhere, we are assured, within the Sub Pop offices. See the fruits of his labor by watching this video here now.

Sub Pop Records is visibly full of itself in sharing the initial lineup for our 25th anniversary celebration, the Sub Pop Silver Jubilee, to be held July 13th in Seattle, Washington. The event will feature music and comedy performances from artists from the label’s roster and beyond, both past and present.

On Saturday, July 13th, Sub Pop will present a free, all-ages concert on a stretch of Airport Way in Seattle’s historic & colorful Georgetown neighborhood—a lively cultural community that’s home to over 40 galleries, specialty boutiques, diners, nightclubs, coffee shops, art studios, and more. So far, the music lineup features Mudhoney (who are also celebrating their 25th anniversary), Greg Dulli, J Mascis, Shabazz Palaces, Shearwater, Pissed Jeans, The Baptist Generals, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth (featuring Tad Doyle), and Endino’s Earthworm (featuring legendary producer Jack Endino) performing throughout the day, alongside local food trucks, beer gardens, at least one gallery exhibit, a record fair, and the largely unasked-for return of the Sub Pop Mega Mart as a pop-up store. Expect more bands and events to be announced soon.

We’ve imposed upon a few members of our extended family to help announce the event, and they did a real bang-up job. Please enjoy this very special and occasionally humorous announcement.

While the Silver Jubilee is free, fans who make a suggested $5 donation at collection stations upon entry to the fest, will receive a limited-edition tote bag. All monies raised will benefit local charities like 90.3FM KEXP, Northwest Harvest and the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation. In addition to these worthy organizations, Sub Pop is fortunate to be working with the Georgetown Merchants Association and great businesses like Georgetown Brewing Company, the Sandbox, Fantagraphics Books, Georgetown Records, Via Tribunali, Elysian Brewing Company, and the Georgetown Inn to create a one-of-a-kind event in a one-of-a-kind neighborhood.

In honor of our 25th anniversary year, we at Sub Pop Records will be hosting an altogether free event in Seattle’s historic Georgetown neighborhood. Along and surrounding Airport Way, we are fairly certain there will be some combination of… Actual live bands, playing actual live music! Some sort of art-related something or other! Like, in a gallery space, we’re thinking! A record fair-type event! Food! Beer and wine! (The food and beer and wine and soda or whatever, you will have to pay for! These parts are not free!) Good times and opportunities to embarrass yourself and those who’d always hoped for better for you! Plus, bands!

Further details will be forthcoming…
